The 22 mm holes are sized for the small hands of clawed monkeys (family Callitrichidae) or squirrel monkeys (genus Saimiri). For larger species, the holes need to be enlarged – if you're planning to use the product for a different species, please mention this in the order notes and we'll gladly adjust the hole size.
The small holes can also work the other way around – for larger species, the box can double as a slow feeder: if you place insects inside, for example, they'll gradually crawl out through the holes, extending the feeding time. For tool-using animals such as capuchin monkeys, a bowl of blended fruit or honey can be placed inside, which the animals then dig out using sticks.
The edges are carefully sanded and treated with natural oil for the animals' safety and a longer lifespan of the water-resistant material. All metal components (hinges, latch, hanging eyelets) are made of stainless steel.
